Academic Competition of Hungarian-Language Pedagogical High Schools

The Academic Competition of Hungarian-Language Pedagogical High Schools was held on 21–22 November 2025, organized jointly by the Bethlen Gábor College and the Bethlen Gábor Foundation. This two-day event aimed to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing among Hungarian pedagogical high schools in Transylvania, while providing students with opportunities for professional development and competitive evaluation.

Opening of the Event

For the second time, this competition was held, with the opening ceremony led byIldikó Szőcs, Director, and Melinda Bartha, the main organizer of the competition, who welcomed the participating teams.

The event was enriched by a book presentation by Gizella Balogh, who introduced her book „Olvasni tanítom a gyermekemet” . Her lecture offered valuable professional insights to the future educators present, as they had the opportunity to hear the thoughts of a retired teacher with extensive knowledge and experience.

A special highlight of the evening was the performance by Fordított Patkó, who staged their play “LOL – Jeremy összekapja magát”. The youthful energy, humor, and meaningful messages perfectly complemented the atmosphere and objectives of the event.

The competition brought together participants from four institutions:

Ady Endre High School, Oradea
Kölcsey Ferenc High School, Satu Mare
Bethlen Gábor College, Aiud

Special thanks are extended to the competition’s judging panel, whose dedication and thoroughness have elevated the quality of the event last year and this year:

Dr. Piroska Demény, lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Applied Didactics, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca.
Dr. Lilla Péter, lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Applied Didactics, Babeș-Bolyai University, Odorheiu Secuiesc.
Noémi Para, employee of the Covasna County Educational Counseling and Resource Center, school counselor, volunteer, and mental health specialist.

Course of the Competition

The purpose of the event was to promote the sharing of pedagogical expertise, with particular focus on the following areas:

Teacher Training
Early Childhood Education (Kindergarten)
Nursery Education

The program was divided into two stages:

Nursery Education Section:

2nd Prize: Mézes Mancsok Team, Kölcsey Ferenc High School, Satu Mare
3rd Prize: JoCyVi Team, Ady Endre High School, Oradea

Kindergarten Education Section:

1st Prize: Háromágú Mesefa Team, Kölcsey Ferenc High School, Satu Mare
1st Prize: Micimackó Team, Bethlen Gábor College, Aiud
2nd Prize: TanTrió Team, Ady Endre High School, Oradea

Teacher Training Section:

1st Prize: PedaPower Team, Bod Péter Teacher Training College, Covasna
2nd Prize: Kishurka, Nagyhurka Team, Bod Péter Teacher Training College, Covasna
2nd Prize: Bóbiták Team, Bethlen Gábor College, Aiud
3rd Prize: Hullócsillagok Team, Kölcsey Ferenc High School, Satu Mare

Significance of the Competition

This event provided a unique opportunity for Hungarian-language pedagogical high schools, as such competitions are currently unavailable in Transylvania. The long-term aim of the academic competition is to strengthen connections between institutions and contribute to the professional development of future educators.
