In a student’s voice: culture, art, music, and joy.

During the Choral Tour held from March 25-28, the students of our school gained unforgettable experiences while enriching the audience with their musical talent.

As part of a special grant application, the Bethlen Gábor Foundation received financial support worth 20,000 lei, which was used to reduce the costs of meals, accommodation, and travel expenses.

The tour proved to be a successful event with a dual purpose. On the one hand, it was an artistic experience, as beautiful choral pieces were performed in multiple voices, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. On the other hand, it also served as a recruitment tour, aiming to spread the reputation of our school and attract future students.

On the first day of the tour, the choir performed at the Reformed Church in Mediaș, where they experienced defining moments made even more memorable by the warm hospitality of the local congregation. They expressed their gratitude to everyone who showed them kindness and hospitality, as well as for the delicious dinner prepared especially for them.

On the second day of the tour, the choir performed in Nagyajta and Barót to a full house, clearly demonstrating the local audience’s interest and support. In addition, they had the opportunity to explore the area’s sights, visiting the Unitarian fortified church in Nagyajta and the Benedek Elek Memorial House in Kisbacon.

On the third day of the choral tour, they continued their journey to Négyfalu, where they had even more unforgettable experiences. They visited the Prázsmár fortified church and then performed at the Lutheran church for the local schoolchildren. In the afternoon, they expressed their gratitude for the hospitality of the Reformed congregation, which served as a fitting conclusion to their tour.

A huge congratulations and heartfelt thanks to conductor Zsombor Szabó, as well as accompanying teachers Melinda Bartha and Edwin Matias, who enthusiastically organized and carried out this multi-day event. In many locations, hosts generously provided accommodation and meals as donations, which was a great help in making the tour possible.

At each stop, the Bethlen Gábor College’s 2024/2025 academic year offerings were also presented, giving interested children and parents the opportunity to speak directly with the college’s teachers about further education options. Our school presentation aimed to secure the future of Bethlen Gábor College, ensuring that for the next 400 years, its halls will continue to echo with the voices of Hungarian-speaking students.

The March tour of the Bethlen Gábor College mixed choir was made possible with the support of the Communitas Foundation—we are deeply grateful for this opportunity!
